World Physiotherapy Day
The Department of Physiotherapy, Dolphin PG Institute of Biomedical and Natural Sciences, Dehradun celebrated World Physiotherapy Day from 6/9/24 to 8/9/24. In 1996, 8 September was designated as World PT Day. This is the date World Physiotherapy was founded in 1951.The day marks the unity and solidarity of the global physiotherapy community. It is an opportunity to recognise the work that physiotherapists do for their patients and community. The Department of Physiotherapy celebrated the day with full zeal and enthusiasm. Department started the celebrations by organising an EDP Workshop on, ‘ NDT in Stroke’ from06/9/24 to 7/9/24. The Speaker of the event was Dr Harpreet Singh Sachdev, Dr. Harpreet Sigh Sachdev, Neuro Physiotherapist in AIIMS New Delhi. Dr Harpreet has more than 20 years of experience and More than 20 nationals and more than 10 international publications. Around 40 students of BPT final year participated in the programme and were enlightened about the concept and its role in Entrepreneurship development. Coordinators of the Event Dr Deptee Warikoo and Dr Richa Agrawal motivated students with their presence. The celebrations continued with an Essay competition organised by Dr Diksha Bhatt, Dr Rupali Gurung and Dr Shaili Rawat. The theme of the competition was, LBA: Role of Physiotherapy in it. Around 30 students participated in the event and priyam Pandey, BPT 1 Sem stood First, Shreya Rai BPT 1 sem received second prize and Vidushi phartyal from BPT 1 sem got the third prize. Department also organised a Swathcta Abhiyan along with the NSS unit of Dolphin PG Institute for awareness of cleanliness around the campus. The Department organised a short Talk on Physiotherapy Awareness on 7/9/2024, the special Guest of the event was Dr Bharat Mehra, a rebound Physiotherapist of Uttarakhand. Dr. Bharat Mehra has more than 15 year of experience, he has expertise in sports and ortho physiotherapy. He is General Secretary IAP Uttarakhand Chapter and Vice president , Physiotherapist association Uttarakhand. Dr Mehra depicted the Scope of Physiotherapy to students. Department also organised a Skit competition. The judgement was done by Dr Bharat Mehra. BPT 1 year stood first, second Prize was won jointly by BPT 2 and BPT 3 year and BPT 4 year stood third. Cash prizes were given to all winners. Coordinators of the event Dr Keerty Mathur and Dr Chaitanya K Tamang motivated students throughout the event.
MPT first semester Students gave presentation on “low back pain and its physiotherapy management” The celebrations were concluded by conduction of a webinar on 8/09/2024 on, Low Back ache in Pregnancy. The speaker for the event was Dr Manishika Patait, Senior Physiotherapist, Fortis, Delhi. Dr Patait explained about the role of Physiotherapy in LBA in pregnancy. The Principal, DIBNS, Dr Shailja Pant and IQAC Coordinator, DIBNS Dr Shruti Sharma and Dr Deptee Warikoo, HOD, Department of Physiotherapy, encouraged the students with their motivational words throughout the 3 days of celebrations.

Name: Serlyn Beypi Program and Batch: B.Sc. forestry 2017-2021 Current position: Forest Ranger Karbi angling district (Assam) Brief : Ms. Serlyn Beypi completes her B.Sc. degree during 2017-2021 in Forestry from Dolphin PG Institute. She was very active in her studies and has a great potential of sport spirit.
