Biochemistry is one of the fastest-growing branches of science in modern times and its relevance increases further as mankind is actively searching for organic and pro-healthy solutions which form the base of sustainable goals. On the other hand, the excessive dependence of various civilizations in the recent past on artificial and chemical-based products has caused great damage to the entire environment, including human beings, animals, forests, and water bodies. Ramifications of those negligent behaviors towards nature in the past are visible in present generations in the form of many unprecedented diseases. It is self-explanatory that if the job roles are in myriads after having specialized programme in biochemistry, there must be a variety of industries and sectors which employ biochemistry professionals. Some of the most enticing sectors for them are pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, laboratories, research institutions, chemical plants, agro companies, government agencies, and learning institutions like universities and colleges.
Those who want to excel in their careers as biochemistry professionals must acquire some desirable skills apart from a degree from an institute of repute. They should have a scientific bent of mind with a sound understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of biology and chemistry. Good analytical skills also play an important role as the biochemists should be quick and accurate deducing a variety of data and their clear representation in the research reports. Besides these hard skills, the person should be good at various soft skills as in most cases, a biochemist works with a group of people. Hence, s/he must be good at communication, especially written communication for preparing reports and defining research findings to peers and seniors.
