International Day for Biological Diversity-2022 celebrated by the Department of Forestry
On the occasion of IBD-2022 (International Day for Biological Diversity-2022), a field trip for the students of the Department of Forestry was organized a trip to Marautha village & vicinity, a multi-ecosystem hotspot in the Himalayan foothills of Doon valley. 95 students from the department discussed the practical aspects of ‘Building Shared Future for All Life’ through spectacular site visits with biological diversity, bird, insect activities, and expressions of life forms at Marautha village in the foothills of Sahastradhara Himalayas. This site of nearly 500 years of history has significant prospects for eco/ rural tourism, developing into a multidiscipline integrated center for biodiversity research, education, extension, and awareness. The students also learned about natural grass patches for their cattle by eradicating obnoxious Lantana. Thus, building a shared and sustainable future for other dependent life.
